  Summer Camp 2007

Camp-outs Troop 102 has held. eaglescout writes "Troop 102 went to LE Phillips for summer camp this year. Boy, did we have fun. Between nice cool weather, a great staff, those nice cabins that we slept in, and Phillips having one of the best advancement programs of the camps I've been to; all of this made it one of the best summer camps the troop has attended. Alex was elected SPL for summer camp and he did well at running the troop. Highlights of the week included: 4 mile swimmers, carving an awesome Troop 102 sign for the gateway to our campsite, chugging slushies in less than a minute, and earning lots of fun merit badges. The food was not the best but it was much more edible than last time we went to Phillips. The fishing was pretty good; Camp Phillips holds a fishing competition every week and while the winner was not from our troop, just about everyone in the troop who caught a fish caught one that was either equal in size to the winning 12.5 inch record or bigger,(Graham caught a 17 inch bass a few hours after the announcement of who had won the competition). Many in the troop seemed to think that we ought to return to Phillips next year. Wherever we go next year we will be going during the week after the 4th of July. "

  Big Horns '07

Troop 102 is again sending out scouts to the Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming. There are three crews, each with about 5-6 scouts and 2 adults. We will be departing tomorrow (7/28) and returning on the 4th of August. I (Bzandon) will be on this trek, so I will be unavailable. If there problems with the site while I am gone, mattdp will still be around. Have fun while we're gone!

  Merit Badge Fair

Camp-outs Troop 102 has held. eaglescout writes " Troop 102 participated in the Gamehaven Council Merit Badge Fair this past Saturday (March 24, 2007). The event was well attended with over 500 scouts showing up for the event plus more than 100 adults. The fair was held at Lourdes High School (who did not charge the boy scouts anything for the use of their facility). The fair offered scouts the opportunity to earn up to 2 merit badges. The merit badges offered were not only your normal "eagle-required" badges but also some rarer ones like: Medicine, Aviation, Pulp and Paper, etc. Troop 102 was represented by 24 scouts who earned a wide variety of merit badges. The event went very well in general.
